Jamshedpur Police midnight search for Mango riot accused, propels BJP to shout vendetta politics

Jamshedpur, December 13: Police search for an accused in the 2015 Mango communal violence has led to opposition BJP terming it a vendetta by the law enforcing authorities.

Police reached BJP leader Vikas Singh’s residence late night to arrest him in connection with the 2015 incident. However, during this time Vikas Singh was not present at home, after which the police again reached his residence in the morning.

Wife and children who were present when police arrived have accused police of threatening them as if they were terrorists.

Meanwhile, Vikas Singh issued a statement calling it a ploy of a state minister.

“This entire game is being is being played at the behest of the minister. Late in the night around 12.40 the police reached his residence. The police officers and jawans involved in the campaign rang the call bell for about an hour, which burnt the call bell completely and the power went out in the house. At home, his wife Poonam Singh and children got scared after seeing flames from the electrical wires, if the main switch had not been dropped, a big accident could have happened,” said Vikas Singh in his statement.

“The police personnel and officers did not stop even here, but started forcibly kicking and hitting the door, breaking down the sliding of the door. It was as if police were catching a terrorist. The police came to the house at night and were abusing and talking obscenities and talking about shooting,” said Vikas Singh.

Wife of Vikas Singh alleged that if there was a woman constable or officer in the raiding team, she would definitely open the door and get the whole house investigated.

“Vikas Singh had come home at night but again at 11:30 pm a call came from a close friend and when he cited ill health, Vikas Singh had left the house talking about going to the hospital,” wife alleged.

In 2015, against 50 people, four cases against the Mango riots were registered in the same police station at the same time, in which Vikas Singh has taken bail in 3 cases, in one case a stay was imposed, but a few days ago the stay was removed. It is under consideration in the court, along with this, bail of many other accused has been obtained from the lower court in all the cases. Vikas Singh said that he is engaged in social service every day and his activities are seen in the newspapers as well as in the social media, yet the police do not arrest him on the road.

In this case, Mango police station in-charge Vinay Kumar said that a raid was conducted to arrest Vikas Singh in the 2015 Mango riot case. About 50 people have been arrested in this case so far.

BJP cautions police against ‘vendetta’ actions

Jamshedpur, December 13: BJP has lodged strong protest over the midnight police action at Vikas Singh’s house.

District president BJP, Gunjan Yadav warned the government and the administration, against action taken for revenge.

Strongly condemning police action, Gunjan Yadav said that the conduct of the district administration to arrest BJP worker Vikas Singh at midnight with heavy police force cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

“Police acted like arresting a terrorist and a professional criminal. It shows that police is acting on the behest of the JMM-Congress government and his cabinet minister,” said Yadav.

He said that the matter is years old. In some cases, Vikas Singh has taken bail. A matter was under consideration in the court, on which information has been received that a stay has been imposed. A few days back, the stay in that case has been lifted. Gunjan Yadav said that when the municipal elections are round the corner, the district administration is acting only as a puppet of the government and cabinet ministers.

“Such actions are an act of political vendetta against our BJP workers and the action taken by the district administration has enraged the entire BJP workers. We warn the minister and the district administration and advised them to work within the constitutional ambit and stop harassing BJP supporters or else party supporters would launch an agitation,” said Yadav.

“A fire broke out in which the whole line of the house was destroyed as the police pressed the calling bell continously, they also broke the sliding of the door while pushing the door loudly and talking obscenely,” the complaint alleges.

The complaint also mentions about social activities of Vikas Singh and cites her husband calling Mango police during recent fire at a godown along NH-33 in Mango.

“Why didn’t they arrest my husband at that time, every day he keeps doing social work in the society, keeps running for the people in the road, every day he is also involved in organizing marriages, all the evidence of which is with social media, newspapers, his mobile remains open for 24 hours, even after that the police did not arrest him,” she questions.
