Jamshedpur, April 27: A sensational murder at Tatanagar Railway Station late Sunday night has taken a significant turn, with police suspecting a land-related dispute as a possible motive behind the killing of a loco pilot. The victim, identified as Gyanendu Gautam, a resident of Adityapur, was shot dead in front of the running room, sending shockwaves across the railway colony and nearby areas.
According to preliminary findings, Gautam was allegedly involved in land dealings apart from his association with railway-related contractual work. Investigators believe that a dispute linked to property transactions may have escalated into the fatal attack. Acting on crucial leads, police have detained seven suspects, all reportedly residents of Jamshedpur, and are interrogating them to piece together the sequence of events.
In the aftermath of the incident, police also questioned the victim’s wife, who remains in a state of deep shock. Sources said her condition has delayed the formal lodging of an FIR, as authorities await her statement before proceeding further. Meanwhile, close associates and acquaintances of Gautam are being examined to uncover any underlying enmity or conflict that could have led to the murder.
Senior officials, including City SP Lalit Meena and DSP (Law and Order) Tauqeer Alam, rushed to the spot soon after the incident and reviewed the situation.
The investigation is currently exploring multiple angles, including personal rivalry and business disputes, with a particular focus on Gautam’s involvement in the land trade.
Police officials indicated that the case is progressing swiftly and expressed confidence that the mystery surrounding the murder will be unraveled soon.
