2 workers injured in blast at Hazaribagh factory

Hazaribagh, July 11: A major accident has taken place in the Chintapurni Steel Private Limited factory located at Fifteen Mile in Charhi police station area of Hazaribagh district.

Two workers were badly burnt due to a furnace blast at around 2:30 in the night. The injured include Munna Prasad Yadav and Jitendra Yadav. Both have been taken to Dev Kamal Hospital, Ranchi in critical condition for treatment where they are undergoing treatment.

According to the information, Munna Prasad Yadav, son of Bhuneshwar Prasad Yadav and Jitendra Kumar, son of Lekha Yadav, both residents of village Mujouli in Gaya district of Bihar, were working as crane operators in Chintapurni Steel Private Limited Company.

On the night of July 10, at around 2:30 am, due to a blast in the iron melting furnace, crane operators Munna Prasad Yadav and Jitendra Kumar got burnt in the fire. Due to the strong explosion, fire fell on the bodies of both the workers and they got badly burnt. After the incident, other workers working there gathered. Both were brought to Dev Kamal Hospital in Ranchi in a hurry. Where the condition of both is still said to be critical. After the incident, the workers working in the factory have sat on strike.

About five hundred workers work in the factory round the clock. The workers working in the furnace are provided only shoes and caps for safety, whereas from the safety point of view it is mandatory to provide shoes, cap along with safety belt and company’s safety clothing to a worker.

The workers working in the factory say that the factory management takes work from the workers but the factory management does not pay any attention to the safety of the workers.

They alleged that earlier also such an accident has happened in Hazaribagh. In September last year, there was a blast in an aluminium factory in Sirsi Damodih of Katkamdag police station area. Due to which two workers died on the spot.
