Jamshedpur Police crack down on drunk driving, seize 22 vehicles and collect Rs 2.80 lakh in fines

Jamshedpur, Jan 2: The district police have intensified their efforts against drunk driving and reckless driving, seizing 22 vehicles and collecting a total fine of Rs. 2.80 lakh over the last two days. The crackdown, which is part of a larger campaign, aims to reduce the number of road accidents and ensure the safety of the public.

According to SSP Kishore Kaushal, the campaign was conducted late into the night on December 30 and 31, as well as on the night of January 1. “The goal is not just to collect fines but to make sure people are driving safely and responsibly. Drunk driving and rash driving often lead to fatal accidents, and we are committed to curbing this trend,” he explained.

The traffic police seized nine vehicles each from the Golmuri and Jugsalai areas and imposed fines of Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 40,000, respectively. Additionally, two vehicles were seized in Bistupur, where Rs. 50,000 in fines were collected, and one vehicle was seized in Mango, with Rs. 80,000 in fines. One vehicle was also seized in Sakchi, where Rs. 40,000 was collected.

The district police have assured the public that they will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary action to ensure the safety of commuters. The authorities are working tirelessly to reduce accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.
