Jamshedpur police crack chain snatching case, three held

Jamshedpur: Sakchi police have solved the July 15, chain-snatching case with the arrest of three accused — Shahbaz Sheikh alias Shabu, Sajid alias Aman Billa, and Wasim Akbar alias Chandu.

 

Police recovered the snatched gold chain along with a black Bullet motorcycle used in the crime.

 

The case was registered on the complaint of Swarnali Kumari, who reported that two bike-borne miscreants snatched her gold chain near Datta Decorator in Baradwari.

 

Investigations revealed that Shahbaz and Sajid executed the snatching and later sold the chain to Wasim for Rs 11,000.

 

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Shahbaz and Sajid near Chepapul in Mango.

 

During interrogation, they confessed, leading to the recovery of the chain and motorcycle. Wasim was later arrested for purchasing the stolen ornament.

 

Criminal Background of the Accused

 

Shahbaz Sheikh alias Shabu: Involved in cases under IPC 392 (Burmamines, 2021) and IPC 394 (Azadnagar, 2024).

 

Sajid alias Aman Billa: Accused in IPC 392 cases (Burmamines & Sakchi, 2021) and under BNS provisions (Mango, 2025).

 

 

The operation  headed by Sakchi police station in-charge Anand Kumar Mishra along with SI Amit Kumar Singh, SI Abhinav Kumar, ASI Upendra Paswan, and armed forces.
