Jamshedpur Police conduct special drive, collect Rs 2.6 lakh as fine

Jamshedpur, October 25: District police had made strict security arrangements regarding Durga Puja.

 During this time, the police conducted a special drive against those involved in rash driving, using modified silencers on bikes, drunken driving and pressure horns.

Under this campaign, the police caught a total of 143 vehicles from which a total fine of Rs 2,62,500 was collected.

Giving information, Jamshedpur Police’s media cell in-charge cum DSP CCR Animesh Gupta said that a total of 143 vehicles were caught in this special drive, in which 40 vehicles were caught for rash driving, 60 for modified silencer, one for installing pressure horn and five for drunken driving.  Bike riders were caught drunk and driving. Four have been sent to court in the drunk and drive case.

Animesh Gupta said that during this period the highest fine has been collected from those with modified silencers. A total of 60 bikes fitted with modified silencers were caught, from which Rs 1,97,500 was recovered. Apart from this, Rs 51,000 were recovered from 40 vehicles driving rashly, Rs 2,000 from vehicles fitted with pressure horns and Rs 12,000 from those driving drunk.
