Jamshedpur, Sept 26: In a major breakthrough against rising vehicle theft incidents, the Mango police have successfully busted a professional bike-lifting gang and arrested five accused members.
Those nabbed have been identified as Jumman, Syed Mosin alias Vicky, Kadir Khan, and Ayan alias Chhoti, among others.
The arrests were made under Mango Police Station Case No. 240/2025, dated September 25, 2025.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the police team carried out a swift operation that led to the recovery of seven stolen motorcycles, which had been lifted by the gang from various parts of the city.
According to officials, the accused had been operating in several police station jurisdictions for a long time, carrying out systematic thefts.
Multiple cases are already registered against them in Mango, Azadnagar, Kadma, MGM, Sakchi, and Vishnupur police station areas.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, City SP Kumar Shivashish confirmed that the gang was deeply entrenched in organized vehicle theft activities.
“The accused are involved in several serious cases across different police stations. Their arrest is expected to significantly curb the growing menace of bike thefts in Jamshedpur and restore public confidence in security,” he said.
The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody. Police are continuing interrogation to identify and apprehend other members of the gang who may still be active.
Police believe that with this successful operation, the city will witness a sharp decline in motorcycle theft cases that had been troubling residents in recent months.
