Jamshedpur, April 2:  Jamshedpur police made a significant breakthrough on Tuesday by apprehending two persons involved in a sophisticated racket where they impersonated as bailiffs. The arrested individuals, identified as Arvind Prasad Singh of Sidhgora No. 10 Basti and Naveen Kumar Rai of Adityapur 2 Road No. 11, were found in possession of a number of forged documents including Aadhaar cards, vehicle registration cards, stamp papers, and passport-sized photographs of various persons.

According to SSP Kishore Kaushal, the police had been receiving intelligence reports about a group fabricating Aadhaar cards and vehicle registration certificates to secure bail for jailed criminals. Following directives, officers were deployed at civil court premises to monitor suspicious activities. On Monday, police intercepted two suspects at Civil Court Gate No. 3, leading to the discovery of their illegal operation.

During interrogation, the accused revealed their modus operandi, stating that they would assume false identities for a fee, arranging bail for criminals by creating fake documents and utilizing multiple individuals’ identities. The investigation uncovered a network involving influential figures, including lawyers advocating for the accused, but their efforts proved futile as both suspects were remanded to custody.

Police have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the gang, conducting raids to thwart such operations.
