Jamshedpur Police arrests Sohrab, member of Dabur Gang in firing case

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur police have arrested Sohrab alias Lal Babu, a key accused in the firing incident that took place on December 15, 2024, in the Bhalubasa area of Sitaramdera police station. The firing was targeted at the house of absconding criminal Salman Khan.

Sohrab, a resident of Old Purulia Road No. 18 in Azad Nagar, was apprehended following a series of raids conducted across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. “A special team was formed to track Sohrab and with the help of an informer, we arrested him in Jamshedpur,” said SSP Kishore Kaushal in a press conference on Saturday.

During the arrest, police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from Sohrab. After undergoing a medical examination at MGM Hospital, he was sent to judicial custody.

During interrogation, Sohrab admitted to being a member of the infamous Dabur gang from Mango. “After Dabur was jailed, Sohrab was trying to regroup old gang members and reestablish his influence,” SSP Kaushal added.

Police also recovered a pistol that Sohrab had hidden under a bridge near Kali Mandir and Pardih Basti on the National Highway. “Another accused, Sadiq Khan alias Kubda, had already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with this case,” DSP Bhola Prasad stated.

Investigations revealed that the attack on Salman Khan’s house was an act of revenge, following an earlier altercation involving Khan in Kadma. “This was a retaliation for a previous incident in which Salman Khan was involved in a violent clash,” police sources confirmed.

Sohrab’s arrest is expected to disrupt the reformation of the Dabur gang, which had been attempting to regain its foothold in criminal activities.
