Jamshedpur Police arrest eight members of a gang, two country-made pistols seized

Jamshedpur: The police arrested eight members of a gang by raiding a place in Wireless Maidan under Bagbera police station area in the wee hours of Sunday.The police seized two country-made pistols, three knives, two motorcycles, a scooter and Rs 21,000 cash from them.

Those arrested were identified as Jitendra Kumar Shah (27), Raju Singh alias George (32), Abhishek Kumar Singh (28), Amit Kumar (28), Raju Prakash (37), Rakesh Bahadur (38), Roshan Singh (22) and Sambbu Singh (38).

Revealing about the breakthrough, senior superintendent of police, Anoop Birtharay said today that the arresting was made following a tip off that a gang of suspected criminals was assembled at the Wireless Maidan around midnight of Sunday.

He pointed out during the search they discovered two country-made pistols, five live cartridges, three knives and Rs 21,000 cash from the arrested persons. He said that they recovered a money receipt of Rs 3 lakh from the possession of George and that the amount had been paid in connection with purchasing a plot of land at Prakash Nagar in Birsanagar.

Birtharay said on being interrogated, the arrested persons confessed that they had committed a robbery at the house of Lambu Seth in August this year and were planning to commit similar robbery at some other house.

Abhishek, Amit, Jitendra and George have already police records and were indulged in crime like loot and thefts in Parsudih, Govindpur, Birsanagar, Bagbera and Burmamines thana area.
