Jamshedpur Plans ‘Didi Cafés’ to Boost Women’s Entrepreneurship

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration plans to establish Didi Cafés within the Collectorate premises using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to boost women’s entrepreneurship and financial independence.

Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan chaired a district-level CSR meeting to discuss the initiative, which will provide stable livelihoods for rural women’s self-help groups. Ranjan urged corporate representatives to coordinate their welfare spending through the district committee to avoid duplication and optimize resources.

Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan reminded companies that state guidelines mandate administrative approval before launching CSR projects, noting that only UCIL, HCL, and Bank of India have complied so far. The administration gave companies one week to submit their past and current CSR plans.

Alongside the cafés, the district presented other priority projects for corporate funding, including school desks, sanitary napkin vending machines, water ATMs at health centres, and electric tricycles for disabled residents.
