Jamshedpur: ‘Pink Toilets’ equipped for women only

Jamshedpur, March 8: ‘The Mediapur Wala’ in association with Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) successfully launched ‘Pink Toilet Campaign’ for women at Jamshedpur Women’s College on Tuesday, March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The Pink Toilet would be installed for use by women and be equipped with all facilities for them. SCCI Vice President Mukesh Mittal, playing a leading role in the Pink Toilet campaign, said, “This is not a mere toilet, it is a campaign. It will have all facilities for women along with toilets. Provisions for lactating mothers to breast feed their infants, sanitary pads and other essentials for them would be provided in the Pink Toilet. The campaign will be run in different schools, colleges, markets, malls for a month. The views of women on this Pink Toilet scheme will be taken. We will request the Jharkhand government and Tata Steel to cooperate in this mission.”

Among the guests was former Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University, Shukla Mahanty while encouraging women and stressing on women empowerment observed, “if Pink Toilets for women are not installed by the end of this campaign, then women themselves will come out on the streets for their rights and realize their rights.”

 Mukesh Mittal, Anand Kumar, Shukla Mohanty, Shashi Sangita Bada, Mukul Khandelwal, Aruna Mishra, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Javed Ahmed, Jaya Singh, Sharib, Vinita Shah, Dr. Manju Rani Singh, Sharad were the chief guests in the inaugural ceremony. Many dignitaries of the city including Chandran, Mahesh Sonthalia, Kishore Golchha, Sanwarmal Sevda, Piyush Chaudhary, Bharat Vasani, Kamal Kishore Agarwal were present on the occasion.

Hritika Kumari anchored the programme while Bharat Vasani offered the vote of thanks.
