Women’s Day Celebrated at Srinath University

Jamshedpur, March 8: International Women’s Day that is celebrated on March 8 every year and every country to arouse respect and awareness on the status and dignity of daughters, sisters and mothers. The date is to celebrate womanhood. The International Women’s Day celebration at Srinath University combined the aura of respect and gratitude. The chief guest on the occasion was Padma Shri Chhutni Mahto the crusader for uplift and respect of women in society. 

In her address on the occasion, Chhutni Mahto narrated her struggles she had personally experienced and had overcome through sheer determination. She said, “I had to withstand the wrath of society. But I fought for my rights and this gave me the courage to take up causes of women who were oppressed and tortured by communities. I persevered determinedly and continue the fight for the rights of women including the drive to eradicate the tag of sorcery and black magic tied to helpless and hapless women.” 

Secretary of Srinath University, Gurudev Mahto saluted women who had broken taboos and barriers of abstract beliefs and attained honour in otherwise male dominated bastions. “We should never forget that our mothers are women. Be it a girl child or an adult, it is our social and moral responsibility to work for the uplift of women from kitchen to the wide world of opportunities.”

Cultural programmes were put up by the Srinath University students of B Ed, D El Ed, MBA, BBA,BCA ,MCA and Fine Arts. Sandip Acharya and Mohit anchored the programme while Sandip Sharma offered the vote of thanks.
