Jamshedpur: Persistent traffic jams on Mango Bridge leave commuters struggling

Jamshedpur: Mango Bridge witnessed yet another severe jam on Wednesday, causing immense inconvenience to commuters.

The residents of Mango are grappling with severe traffic congestion from early morning to late evening. Key roads such as New Purulia Road, Payal Talkies to Dimna Road, old and new Bridge are choked with vehicles every day causing significant distress to commuters.

The gridlock led to slow-moving traffic along Dimna Road, Mango roundabout, Mango bridge, Old Purulia Road, Bus Stand roundabout, Old Court Road, Bus Stand Road, and MGM Hospital Road.

Parents are facing difficulties in dropping children to school, resulting in students arriving late for classes.

Office-goers are also struggling to reach their workplaces on time due to the long queues of vehicles during peak hours. The situation worsens in the afternoon when private schools close, leading to heavy congestion on Mango Bridge. In desperation, two-wheelers are seen navigating dangerously on alternate paths to escape the gridlock.

The traffic police are making continuous efforts to clear the jams but have been unable to ensure smooth traffic flow. Mango Bridge, a vital link in the area, remains particularly problematic, with barely any respite from the congestion throughout the day.

Adding to the chaos is the ongoing flyover construction at Mango Chowk. The project, announced by Health Minister Banna Gupta and approved earlier this year, is progressing slowly. Soil testing near the intersection required the road to be partially cordoned off with tin sheets, narrowing the already crowded stretch and further exacerbating the traffic woes.

Despite efforts by authorities, the jam persists, leaving residents frustrated. Commuters are urging for expedited construction of the flyover to alleviate the daily struggle on Mango’s roads.

  1. Actually, absolutely no work is being done in the sectioned off area on the Mango side of the intersection. The work was started 2 days before the elections but the only work done was blocking a n area on the already narrow part of the road. It was just a vote gathering stunt and is now causing severe hardship to the people. But who cares?
