Jamshedpur, Sept 19: Badminton Association of Jharkhand (BAJ), organized a two-day Jamshedpur Open Badminton Tournament — 2021 at Telco Club that concluded on Sunday evening. The finals of Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Masters categories saw very closely fought and nail biting matches. Prize distribution ceremony was held after the tournament.
Social worker Anoop Ranjan and BAJ president Dinesh Kumar encouraged the players and awarded prizes to the winners of the different segments of the tourney.. The winners were awarded cash prize of Rs 4,000 and a trophy each while the runners-up were presented cash prizes of Rs 2,000 and a trophy each.
While addressing the closing ceremony, Anup Ranjan described the efforts being made by the BAJ for the uplift of players, promising talents and the game in general was commendable. He said that sporting spirit increased with such events.
Dinesh Kumar observed during the closing ceremony that the responsibility of sports institutions should be for the development of sports and players and not simply organizing competitions or competing among themselves. He said, “Some people are harming a game like badminton with their negativity. Badminton Association of Jharkhand does not compete with any other sports body. Our prime concern is to uplift the standard of the game and the players.”
The tournament concluded with the singing of the national anthem by the players, organizers and the spectators.
BAJ President Dinesh Kumar, Vice President Vijay Singh, Secretary Rajiv Sengupta, Joint Secretary Syed Rashid Zafar, Treasurer Mohammad Rashid, Binod Kumar, Vijay Kishore, including match umpires Deepak Kumar, Ranjan Kumar, match referee Alok Noel and Match controller Raju Kumar, Ankit Anand played important roles in organizing the tournament..
