Jamshedpur, April 10: District Legal Services Authority, Jamshedpur, organized a legal awareness camp for juveniles at Observation Home, Ghaghidih, on Sunday. First Class Judicial Magistrates Prashant Singh and Aditya Kumar informed the juvenile inmates about their fundamental rights and duties. They said any individual of age below 18 years was a child. Those children who are alleged to have committed any offence are called children in conflict with law. Such children are produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, said the Magistrate, while asking the juveniles to take pledge that they will join the social mainstream and live with their families and that they will not come to the Observation Home again.
Magistrate Aditya Kumar said children often take wrong steps in life due to lack of awareness. Such kids are kept at Observation Home, he said while informing the inmates about their various legal rights and facilities available to them during their stay at the Observation Home.
The inmates were also informed about sponsorship and foster care schemes under Shishu Project. They were informed about the free legal aid provided by the DLSA.
