Jamshedpur: Non-local political workers ordered to exit by Nov 11 evening

Jamshedpur: In accordance with directives from the Election Commission of India, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal has issued a strict order mandating that all political workers and campaign personnel from outside the Purbi Singhbhum district must exit the district by 5:00 pm on November 11, 2024. This order applies to individuals not registered as voters or candidates in any of the district’s six assembly constituencies.

The decision, aligned with the Election Commission’s guidelines, aims to preserve an environment conducive to free and fair elections by preventing undue influence from outside parties. According to the directive, any non-local political person or worker found in the district after the stipulated time will face legal action under relevant election laws. This restriction comes into force after the official closure of the campaign period and prohibits any further presence of non-local political functionaries within constituency limits.

The Election Commission’s guidelines stress that following the campaign cutoff, no further political activity or presence of outside functionaries should be permitted within the constituency. The order states that the continued presence of outside campaign workers could potentially disrupt the neutrality needed for a fair voting process.

Officials of the district have been instructed to enforce this rule diligently, ensuring that the assembly constituencies within Purbi Singhbhum remain undisturbed by any non-local political influence, thereby protecting the electoral integrity of the upcoming polls.
