Jamshedpur: Noel N Tata, senior officials pay tribute to Founder, colourful tableaus displayed inside Tata Steel works

JN Tata’s 184th birth anniversary

Jamshedpur, March 3: Tata Steel and Jamshedpur paid homage to its Founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, also regarded as the legendary ‘Father of Indian Industry’ on his 184th birth anniversary at the Jamshedpur Works Main Gate inside the Tata Steel premises on Friday, March 3, amidst much enthusiasm.

The morning of 3rd March saw an august gathering of dignitaries and honorary guests from across the Tata Group at the Tata Steel Works Main Gate.

Celebrated as the Founder’s Day, the flagship event happens every year at Jamshedpur on March 3 to pay tributes to the founder’s vision of an industrial future with community welfare at its core.

The theme of this year’s celebrations is “Geennovation – Make Tomorrow Green”.

The event in Jamshedpur today was graced by Noel N Tata, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel and T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel.

Other senior company officials, as well as Union members, were also present during the occasion. The event started with paying homage to the Founder at the Works Main Gate by Vice Chairman, senior officials, Union members, Group company officials and citizens of Jamshedpur.

Vice Presidents of Tata Steel, Tata Workers Union President Sanjeev Choudhary, general secretary Satish Singh, deputy president Shailesh Singh, office bearers, and other dignitaries were present.

The festivities began with March Past parade by various Departments of Tata Steel and Tata Steel`s group companies at the Works Main Gate inside the Tata Steel premises.

Colourful tableaus depicting the work process of various departments preceded each of their processions, respectively. 

The representatives of different groups in the procession paid homage at the Founder’s Statue at the Works Main Gate. Floats and Audio-Visual displays were part of the contingents.

Tata Main Hospital (TMH) team led by Dr Sudhir Rai, General Manager, Medical Services, Tata Steel paid tribute to the founder.

Homage was paid by all at the Founder’s Statue located near the Gate.

JN Tata had begun his entrepreneurial journey with a textile mill in central India in the 1870s. His vision inspired the steel and power industry in India, set the foundation for technical education, and helped the country leapfrog to join the ranks of industrialised nations.

Exhibition at Steelennium Hall

Noel N Tata inaugurated the exhibition at Steelennium Hall inside Jamshedpur works. the theme of the exhibition is “Greennovation – Make Tomorrow Green”.  

The exhibition by various departments showcased innovation (like accelerated use of AI, 3D visualization models for plant & machinery), resilient supply chain with ability to handle global disruptions, sustainability and material circularity for a greener tomorrow, technology leadership – e.g. hydrogen economy, disruptive innovations and use of renewables, unlocking the human dimension-developing skills for tomorrow, organizational agility & excellence.

  1. Thanks to Tatas….unforgettable….where values grow. Having studied in Jamshedpur at an early age every year our school Sacred Heart Convent would take us to visit Jubilee Park and see the Founder. Humaneness in every vein of the Tatas.
