Jamshedpur News: Seven accused including two minors arrested for raping software engineer

Jamshedpur, Oct 23: The police have succeded to nab the gang involved in the rape case of a software engineer near the airport located at Old Chaibasa under Mufassil police station. The police have arrested seven youths with the help of the villagers. These also include two minors in the incident. 

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar in a press conference at Mufassil police station said that the youths have confessed to their crime. Raids are being conducted for other youths. The names of the arrested youths are Shivshankar Karji alias Baz (22), Suren Devgam (20), Purmi Devgam alias Seti (19), Prakash Devgam alias Dembo (21), Soma Sinku alias Petra (19). Apart from these, there are also two minors involved in the incident. On Saturday, Chaibasa police arrested and interrogated three youths of Mudiodol, Sundisai and Kundibera. Some of these youths have been let off. The arrested youths were brought to Pandarashali for interrogation. 

On October 20, a software engineer girl was gang-raped by unidentified youths near the airport of Chaibasa. A case has been registered in Mufsil police station regarding this. A case has been registered against 10 unknown people on the statement of the girl. Police have recovered the victim’s violet, Rs 4500 kept in it, Aadhar card, ATM card, driving license, HDFC Bank debit card, three passport size photographs from the youth.

According to the case registered on October 20, at 5.40 pm, the victim had gone to the airport with her friend to roam around by scooty. Standing there she started talking to a friend. When it started getting dark, 10 youths came there and beat her up and took her to a secluded place and raped her. While the girl’s friend was beaten up and chased away. The youths also snatched mobile and five thousand rupees from the victim and her friend. In the statement given by the victim to the police, it has been said that all the accused were talking among themselves in ‘Ho’ language. One by one all the people raped her for about 40 minutes. After raping everyone ran away. When she came on the road with a scooty, some women told that the young man who was with you has gone to the police station to complain.
