Jamshedpur: Cable Town resident Md Jasim Sheikh initially threatened a locality girl and her family of dire consequences and later entangled her in a case of Love Jihad and finally lured her into running away with him on May 15.
While talking to reporters at their residence, the girls parents and elder sister feared that Jasim would have converted her to his religion by now. They alleged that Jasim had, on earlier occasions come to their colony and abused them. He used to follow our daughter to her college. She seemed to be in a state of fear till her disappearance of May 15. When she did not return home from college that evening we tried to call her on her mobile phone and found that it was switched off.
The very next day, on May 16, the family members lodged a missing complaint in Golmuri PS and on May 18 filed a report of kidnapping of the girl. Finding no tangible initiative from the police, they went to the SSPs office on May 20 where they were informed that the girl along with Jasim and some youth had been to the office already and stated in writing that they had married. The aggrieved family has urged the administration for safe recovery of the girl.
The distraught family told reporters that their daughter was in the final year of BA with English Honours at Jamshedpur Womens college. She also used to give tuitions at home. Jasim used to disturb her all the time over phone and used to blackmail her by threatening to commit suicide, they said.
Meanwhile, the district vice president of Hindu Jagran Manch Shubham Vishwakarma alleged that such cases were regularly coming to light. He urged the administration to act fast on this issue and take action against all involved in the case failing which organization members would take to the roads to hold massive demonstrations.
Golmuri PS OC Ranvijay Sharma informed that the girls family had filed a case of abduction. He said, We are adopting all possible means to recover the missing pair. We are also questioning Jasims family members.
