Jamshedpur, March 27:  The court of ADJ-2 Abhash Verma acquitted Pradeep Bahadur Thapa, the accused in the Sulochana Bahadur murder case, citing insufficient evidence. Sulochana Bahadur, a resident of Poradih village in the Kowali police station area, was allegedly murdered on November 30, 2018. The accused had been in jail since December 1, 2018, awaiting trial.

The court heard testimonies from seven witnesses in the case, ultimately granting the benefit of doubt to the accused. It may be mentioned that the incident came to light when village head Gopal Puran lodged an FIR against Pradeep Bahadur Thapa at Kowali police station, stating that he witnessed the accused beating his mother. Puran claimed to have found Sulochana bleeding from her head when he arrived at the scene.

According to Puran, Pradeep Bahadur Thapa had a history of assaulting his mother, allegedly fueled by demands for money to purchase alcohol. However, despite these allegations, the court ruled in favor of the accused due to a lack of concrete evidence.
