Jamshedpur MP Mahato pushes for Suvarna Vanik inclusion in Central OBC List

Jamshedpur: MP Bidyut Baran Mahato met Hansraj Ahir, Chairman of the National Commission for Backward classes to press for the inclusion of the Suvarna Vanik caste in the Central OBC list. During the meeting, MP Mahato submitted a memorandum emphasizing the urgent need to recognize the Suvarna Vanik community and 35 other castes recommended by the Jharkhand government for inclusion.

Highlighting the issue, MP Mahto stated, “The Jharkhand government has already recommended the inclusion of 36 castes, including the Suvarna Vanik community, in the Central OBC list. It is crucial that this process is expedited so that these communities can access the benefits they deserve.”

Chairman Hansraj Ahir assured the MP of prompt action on the matter. “We understand the significance of this demand and will take the necessary steps to address it. I will personally look into this issue,” he said.

The Chairman further shared his plans to visit Jharkhand soon to understand the ground realities and engage with stakeholders. He requested MP Mahto to accompany him on the tour to provide insights into the needs of the communities. “Your guidance during my visit will be valuable in understanding the concerns of these castes,” Ahir told MP Mahto.
