Jamshedpur, April 4: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato while giving information under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha on Monday tried to draw attention of the government towards issue of incomplete construction of roads.
Mahato said that due to the incomplete construction work for the last 9 years between kilometer 7.03 to kilometer 10.23 of Galudih – Bobby main canal of Subarnarekha project under East Singhbhum district, irrigation facilities are not available to the farmers from about 65 kilometer long canal.
The construction work of a part of this canal was done by M/S SEW Infrastructure Ltd. was allotted for Rs.85.00 crore in the year 2013-14 which was to be completed in two years. But after 9 years, only 50 percent work has been completed till now and no action has been taken by the state government against the concerned.
In the light of the recommendation made by the Chief Engineer, Chandil Complex, Jamshedpur, in March 2022, the water resources department, Government of Jharkhand, extended the time till 31.03.2023 to the said agency.
While according to the provisions of the SBD agreement, action should have been taken to confiscate the amount of security deposit by disbanding the agreement for this work. After the acceptance of time extension by the Water Resources Department, Jharkhand, the contractor has allegedly caused damage to the government revenue by paying a huge amount under Escalation head. It is known that even after the extension of time, the work has not been completed by the said sensor.
The MP urged that the Ministry of Jal Shakti should complete the said work without any delay.
