Jamshedpur, July 14: The MP-MLA Court at Chaibasa released Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and 13 others after admonition in a 14 year old case registered by Kadma police.
The court admonished the 14 persons and asked them not to repeat their acts before releasing them. Those released include former Jamshedpur MP Suman Mahato, MLA Ramdas Soren, Ramesh Hansda, Manoj Gupta, Neeta Sarkar, Jharna Pal, Harmohan Mahato, Shyamal Sarkar, Baban Rai and Kamlesh Singh.
The case dates back to 9th May 2008 when a statue of former Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahato was being installed in a part of Ganesh Puja ground in Kadma. A dispute arose when members of a group opposed the statue installation. Irked over the objection, the JMM leaders had allegedly manhandled the police officials who tried to control the situation. Police later lodged an FIR against 17 persons. The case was transferred from Jamshedpur Civil Court to the MP-MLA Court in Chaibasa.
The case would however proceed separately against three remaining accused, Neeraj Singh, vinod Dey and Joginder Singh Nirala, sources said.
