Jamshedpur: MP Bidyut Varan Mahato today attended the next round of meetings of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry in Meghalaya capital Shillong.
In today’s meeting, especially matters related to the North East were discussed. In this discussion was held to promote the tourism industry. Along with this, there was a special discussion regarding the PMEGP scheme. The committee wanted to know from the banks that this is an important and ambitious scheme of the Government of India and Prime Minister Modi to generate employment. This scheme is still not widely publicized. The committee wanted to know that how much budget has been arranged by the bank and KVIC for its promotion and what percentage of this budget has been utilized. Apart from this, the committee also sought information about how many applications have been received in 2020-21 and out of these, how many applications have been approved.
The committee has also suggested in relation to the North-East region that the provision of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution is applicable in those areas, so plans should be made accordingly in these areas.
