Jamshedpur, June 4: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has threatened to stage demonstration on 12th June to protest against the poor condition or road between Tata Motors South Gate and Jemco. He said the said stretch of road was ridden with potholes caused by water-logging. Even a slight drizzle converts the potholes into puddles. Consequently, commuters taking this road often get injured as they are unable to see the water-filled potholes.
Roy said he had approached the management of Tata Motors, Nuvoco Vistas, Jemco, IS&WP and Tata Power to take measures to get the said road repaired. In case no action is taken by the companies in a week, I will sit on dharna with the local people, he said.
Roy said he had taken up the civic issues with the local companies two years ago to get an early solution. But the situation has remained much the same, he said.
“Huge vehicles belonging to major industries pass through this road, often causing road accidents. But none of these industries seems willing to resolve the issue. The long-standing demands of the people are being ignored by the authorities concerned,” he said.
Roy said now the people were losing patience. “Water-logging, repair of pothole-ridden roads, overuse of road by heavy vehicles carrying fly ash and other material without covering them properly should be addressed by the companies at once, or else we will have to take the path of agitation,” he said.
