Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy joins JD(U)

Ranchi: In a significant political move, former Jharkhand minister and independent MLA Saryu Roy has joined the Janata Dal (United). Roy, who represents Jamshedpur East in the Jharkhand Assembly, took the party membership in Delhi. His induction into JDU comes ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, marking a strategic shift in the state’s political landscape.

The event, held in Delhi, saw the presence of Jharkhand JDU President and MP Khiru Mahto, as well as JDU National Executive President Sanjay Jha.

Roy, MLA from Jamshedpur East, joined Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party as the Jharkhand assembly elections approach. Prior to this, Roy had met with CM Nitish Kumar in Patna.

Roy’s political journey took a decisive turn before the 2019 Jharkhand assembly elections when he left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Contesting as an independent candidate from the Jamshedpur East assembly seat, he defeated the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
