Jamshedpur: In the ongoing trial related to Al Qaeda, former Bistupur police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar Singh and policeman Dilip Kumar Yadav provided crucial testimonies in the court of ADJ-1 Vimalesh Kumar Sahay on Saturday. Their testimonies supported the prosecution’s case.

Jitendra Kumar Singh, who was the Bistupur police station in-charge on January 22, 2016, and is now posted as DSP in Pakur Sadar, detailed his involvement in the case. He recounted receiving information from the Delhi Special Team about Ahmed Masood Akram Sheikh alias Masood, a resident of Dhatkidih, being linked to Al Qaeda. Singh stated that after initial interrogation, Masood was released but later admitted his association with Al Qaeda on January 25, 2016. Masood revealed that he had met Abdul Rehman alias Katki in Sakchi Jama Masjid in 2003 and had received Jihadi training from Saudi Arabia. He also mentioned Raju alias Naseem Akhtar from Mango, who supplied arms for the organization. A 9 mm loaded pistol was seized from Masood’s house. Singh testified that Masood had frequent interactions with Katki at Maulana Kalimuddin’s house in Mango, which was a hub for recruitment activities.

Policeman Dilip Kumar Yadav, currently serving as an assistant sub-inspector at Hatia railway station, testified about his role during the raid at Bistupur police station. Both accused Ahmed Masood Akram alias Masood and Abdul Rehman alias Katki appeared in court via video conference, while Raju alias Naseem Akhtar was present in person. (w/nkm)
