Jamshedpur, Sept 3: In a significant step towards strengthening the power supply system of Mango, Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy inaugurated a new power substation at Road No. 15, Jawahar Nagar (Mango) on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inauguration, Roy said the new substation will connect Baliguma grid to the Gamharia power grid through the Kunar Basti substation, enabling Mango to receive electricity from two sources. “If there is any disruption in supply from Gamharia grid, electricity will come from Baliguma, and vice versa. Mango is now in a unique position to benefit from two power grids,” he said.

The MLA recalled that there was a time when Mango residents struggled for regular electricity. “Today, Mango enjoys the double advantage of reliable power. With the upcoming RDSS-2 scheme, all 11,000-volt overhead wires will be replaced by underground cabling within the next two to three years, further strengthening the system,” he assured.

Roy instructed electricity department officials to ensure proper metering, timely bill collection, and strict vigilance against power theft. “The state must get its due revenue, and consumers must get safe, reliable supply. Homeowners should also be educated about safe electricity usage. If a transformer fails, it should be replaced within 24 hours,” he emphasized.

Expressing optimism, he added, “In the coming years, I expect Mango to achieve the same level of reliable power supply as Jusco areas of Jamshedpur.”

Senior officials of the Electricity Department, including General Manager-cum-Chief Engineer Ajit Kumar, Superintendent Engineer Sudhir Kumar, Executive Engineer Kapil Ranjan Tigga, and Assistant Engineer Pradeep Kumar Das, attended the event along with junior engineers and staff.

The program also saw the participation of local representatives and community members such as Neeraj Singh, Pappu Singh, Santosh Bhagat, Pintu Singh, Amarendra Paswan, Kulwinder Singh Pannu, Mastan Singh, Vikas Sahni, Sanjay Singh, Manoj Gupta, Bhawani Singh, Ashok Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Rajesh Srivastava, Ankit Srivastava, Monu Pandey, Rakesh Pathak, Lalu Gaur, Deepak Gaur, and others. A large number of residents were also present to witness the inauguration, expressing hope for improved electricity services.
