Jamshedpur, Jan 29: Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu held a crucial meeting with Tata Steel’s Vice President (Corporate Services), Chanakya Chaudhary, on Wednesday to address pressing public issues in Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency. The meeting, held at her residential office in Agrico, focused on key concerns such as water supply, sewerage, electricity, and other essential civic amenities.
During the discussion, MLA Sahu advocated for an exemption from the security deposit requirement for new electricity connections for residents of the leprosy ashram, emphasizing their socio-economic struggles. She also called for the removal of the ₹5,000 penalty imposed on water connections in the Punjabi Refugee Colony and urged the provision of legal water connections to all households.
Highlighting the poor condition of sewerage in Sindhi Refugee Colony, Sahu pointed out that dirty water was seeping into homes, causing severe hardships for residents. She demanded the immediate cleaning of blocked drains to prevent further inconvenience.
Additionally, she stressed the need for uninterrupted access to clean drinking water under the Moharda Water Supply Scheme, urging continuous monitoring to prevent future shortages. She also proposed installing solar-powered high-mast lights in slum areas under Tata Steel’s CSR initiative, ensuring better security and improved living conditions.
“Tata Steel must take swift action to resolve these long-standing issues,” Sahu stated. In response, Chanakya Chaudhary assured her of a prompt resolution, affirming Tata Steel’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Jamshedpur East residents.
