Jamshedpur, Dec 28: A devastating fire broke out at a scrap yard on Road No. 6 in the Bagbera police station area around 9:00 pm on Friday, creating panic in the vicinity. The fire, visible from a considerable distance due to its intensity, engulfed the entire scrap yard before the fire brigade could control the blaze.

According to Raju Sharma, the scrap yard owner, the shop was closed for the day when he left for home. “I received a call at 9:30 pm about the fire, and by the time I reached, everything was already destroyed,” he lamented, estimating the loss at Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakhs.

Residents suspect foul play, alleging that anti-social elements may have deliberately set the fire. The speculation gains traction due to ongoing disputes between local individuals. Sources suggest that Ramashish Sharma, who has been constructing an illegal structure on land belonging to the Baghbeda Housing Board near the scrap yard, could be involved. Tensions surrounding this disputed land have reportedly escalated in recent times.

Upon receiving the report, fire brigade teams promptly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames. The police have also initiated an investigation to determine the fire’s cause. The incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance and resolution of local disputes to prevent such destructive events.
