Jamshedpur, Dec 28: After years of neglect, the Railway Administration has finally decided to repair the Tatanagar Station overbridge road. Known for its countless potholes, the bridge has been a significant concern for commuters. The repair work will commence on the night of December 28, during which vehicular traffic will be restricted from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The Railway Engineering Department confirmed that the repair will cover the stretch from Gudri Market on Station Road to the railway overbridge. This directive comes from the South East Railway Zone, addressing years of complaints about the bridge’s poor condition.

When the overbridge was initially constructed, it sparked controversy due to visible cracks, preventing its official inauguration by then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Despite the defects, the bridge was opened for public use, and its condition has deteriorated ever since. Temporary pothole fillings have been the only response from authorities, often dismissed as a district issue.

The decision to repair the road has been welcomed by locals, who have long struggled with the hazards posed by the damaged bridge. The move is expected to significantly improve safety and ease traffic congestion in the area, providing long-overdue relief to commuters.
