Jamshedpur, July 2: Jamshedpur is preparing for the upcoming wedding season after a two-month pause, with markets bustling with activity as shoppers and households gear up for ceremonies. This year, auspicious wedding dates are limited, with only six days available from July 9 to July 15. Following this period, no auspicious dates for marriages are available until October, prompting many to plan their weddings within this window.

Recently, due to intense heat, market activity was subdued, but with improved weather conditions, shopping enthusiasm has returned. Local markets are well-prepared, offering various promotions and discounts to attract customers. There is a notable trend towards lightweight jewellery, driven by preferences for comfort and affordability. The price of 22-carat gold has also decreased from Rs 68,900 in May to Rs 65,400, further boosting demand for lighter jewellery options.

Furniture sellers have also diversified their offerings to cater to the wedding season rush, with a range of options available from ready-made to customized pieces. Popular items include Carvin and L-type sofas, as well as Onyx dining sets. Advance bookings for furniture have increased due to the shorter wedding season and higher demand.

In the clothing sector, a variety of sarees and bridal lehengas are in demand, ranging from fancy embroidery to traditional Kanjeevaram silk and Jaipuri bandhani work. Lehengas are available in a wide price range, catering to diverse preferences.

Men’s fashion preferences lean towards branded apparel, reflecting a preference for quality and style. Meanwhile, in the utensil market, customers seek durable and reasonably priced cookware, crockery sets, and gas stoves, emphasizing both quality and affordability.

Traders are optimistic about market performance, provided weather conditions remain favorable, anticipating robust activity during the upcoming wedding season.
