Jamshedpur, Jan 6: Goma Lohar (32), a resident of Haludbani Tiriltola in Parsudih, died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday while staying at his in-laws’ home in Hurlung, Birsanagar. The family of the deceased alleged foul play and accused his in-laws of murder.

According to Meena Lohar, the deceased’s aunt who raised him after his parents’ death, Goma had been married to Monu Lohar of Birsanagar Hurlung for 10 years. Initially, the couple lived in Parsudih, but disputes arose over Goma’s drinking habits. At his wife’s insistence, the family moved to live with her parents in Birsanagar.

On Sunday, Goma’s family in Parsudih was informed of his sudden death. His in-laws claimed he had died from burns while lighting a fire, but family members found no burn marks on his body. Meena Lohar alleged Goma was murdered, citing dragging marks at the scene and the contentious circumstances surrounding his wife’s remarriage to another man.

The Birsanagar police have seized the body and sent it for postmortem. Authorities stated that the exact cause of death would be determined after receiving the postmortem report. Goma, who worked as a chicken slaughterer, left behind a 9-year-old child. The police are investigating the case.
