Jamshedpur: Man axes wife, 2 sons to death, injures 2 daughters critically

Jamshedpur, Nov 11: In a gruesome act, a middle-aged man axed his wife and two sons to death while critically injuring two of his daughters in the early hours of Monday in East Singhbhum’s Musabani.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Kunwar Tudu, a resident of Phuljhari village under the Musabani police station area.

The police added that Tudu attacked and killed his wife and four children with an axe while they were asleep.

“The attack occurred between 1:30 and 2:00 AM, allegedly due to family discord. Tudu was in a drunken state. The condition of both the girls is critical, and they have been admitted to MGM Hospital for medical care,” the police said.

The deceased victims have been identified as Maino Tudu (40), Sagun Tudu (14), and Mangal Tudu, while the injured daughters have been identified as Sagen Tudu (12) and Malti Tudu (8).

According to the police, one of Tudu’s sons died at the scene, while his wife and another son succumbed to their injuries on the way to Ghatshila Subdivision Hospital.

After attacking his family members, Tudu attempted suicide. However, he survived and was arrested.

A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officer is investigating the incident and attempting to determine the reasons behind Tudu’s gruesome act.
