Jamshedpur man arrested for stealing jewellery worth Rs 14 L

Jamshedpur, Dec 7: Police arrested a man, identified as Ravi Tantubai, for allegedly stealing ornaments worth Rs 14 lakh from a house in Birsanagar on 4th December last. They recovered few ornaments along with iron implements used to gain entry into the house.

The accused had allegedly stolen the ornaments from the house of one Sanjay Kumar Singh, a retired employee of Tata Motors, from Cross Road No. 2, Zone No. 1, Sunday Market. The accused is a local resident and a daily worker, sources said.

Cops said the accused had reportedly confessed his guilt. “The accused wanted to send his two children to English medium school. For this, he conducted a recce of the target house and carried out the theft along,” said ASP Shubhanshu Jain during a press meet at his Golmuri office.

Tantubai was caught on the basis of CCTV footage obtained from the crime scene. He told police he had lost the bag while running away after a man saw him coming out of Singh’s house.
