Jamshedpur man arrested for killing lover

Jamshedpur, June 19: The police have apprehended a 26-year-old youth, identified as Deepak Rao, in connection with the alleged murder of a woman near Durga Mandir in the Sankusai area under the Ulidih police station. The arrest came after a thorough investigation into the incident, which sent shockwaves through the local community.

Deepak, who runs a shop dealing in South Indian dishes, had an affair with the murder victim Nagi Lakra.

According to police, Nagi (32) wanted to marry Deepak who was opposed to the marriage proposal. As Nagi pressured the youth to marry her, he murdered her by slitting her throat, having called her to meet him near Durga Mandir at the small hours on Sunday.

The police had recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary before detecting the assailant.

OC, Ulidih police station , Sonu Kumar said that they got to know about Deepak Rao being the assailant after they had scanned through Nagi’s mobile phone. The OC said they have also recovered the knife with which Deepak had murdered Nagi. A resident of Road No 5, Sankusai, Nagi used to work at Deepak Rao’s shop where they had developed intimacy.

Based on the evidence collected at the scene and initial statements from witnesses, the police swiftly launched an investigation into the matter. Through meticulous efforts and coordination, they were able to identify Deepak Rao as a primary suspect in the case. Rao, a resident of the nearby locality, was taken into custody on Tuesday following a well-executed operation.
