Jamshedpur : Candidates in fray for Lok Sabha elections from Jamshedpur seat are putting their best effort. With only few days left for the Jamshedpur by election polling, the contestants in fray have stepped up their campaign, knowing that it would be a tough contest.
Development of the constituency is the main poll plank of all the contestants. According to Dr Ajoy Kumar, I have full faith on the voters of Jamshedpur. They will be electing their MP on the basis of performance of candidates and not on the basis of election campaign and publicity. I openly ask the voters to judge my tenure as the MP and then decide to vote.
The people are only going to cast their vote on the basis of performance of the candidates. I am here seeking votes of the people for the work that I have done so far in the last two and a half year of my tenure as the MP of Jamshedpur.
During my tenure as MP I have toured every nook and corner of my constituency and understand issues concerning the people. Whether it was solar lights in the villages or setting up bus stands in the urban areas, I have ensured an over all development of my constituency area.
I have also set up a small call centre, which receives calls from patients and books appointments with the right doctor. I have several future plans to ensure sustained development of the region. If voted to power I will try my best to start a pension scheme for two lakh labourers in the area.
JMM candidate Niroop Mahanty said, First of all let me tell you that I am a truly a localite. I was born and brought up in Jamshedpur. Though I went to US for higher studies but returned back to the city to remain attached to my roots. Through the Kudy Mohanty Children’s Opportunities Trust, a city-based charitable trust formed in 2000 to serve the needy and underprivileged children, named after my late daughter, I have addressed water woes of rural areas by setting up hand pumps.
The trust also helps children by undertaking projects for their education and healthcare. Our motto is to put a smile on every child’s face. There have been many such occasions when the KMCO has gone a step ahead in helping children.
Realising the impact of water scarcity, KMCO committed to donate water pumps every year for next ten years to needy villages. Through our trust I have carefully studied the issues concerning rural areas. If voted to power my experience will help to cater to the needs to the people living in these areas.
Not only this, my experience as the vice president HRM of Tata Steel will also be an advantage to ensure all-round growth of the city. And above all I have clean image as person with no cases against me filed ever, Mohanty observed.
Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vidyut Varan Mahato said, I am the son of the soil and have been a part of the movement for separate state Jharkhand. I understand the pulse of the people of the region. I have been active activist and have been crusading for the rights of the people even before I was elected MLA from Bahragora.
People living in the rural areas have been denied benefits of several Government welfare schemes, I want to be their voice and ensure that they reap the benefits of different projects.
I am also concerned about migration of labourers from our region to different states. This is a vital issue that needs to be addressed. If voted for Lok Sabha I will raise issues of tribals in the house to draw attention of the Government.
Mahato further said, Our party has envisaged roadmap for equal and sustainable development of the urban and rural periphery of the Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency. I am aware of the problems of the city here since my earlier days as political activist.
If, I get an opportunity to represent the city (Jamshedpur LS seat) than certainly, I will even take up the issues which I couldnt as party activist. I want to work with the people and make a difference. I see a lot of potential in Jamshedpur.
