Administration plans video recording of procession during Ramnavami

Jamshedpur: Deputy commissioner-cum-district returning officer of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal today said the administration was going to record the Ramnavami processions across the city in view of the Lok Sabha elections.

The DC said the video recording of processions going to be taken out in the city by various Ramnavami akhara committees will be done to keep vigil on the activities of political parties and candidates of the Lok Sabha elections keeping in mind the guidelines of the Election Commission of India on the Model Code of Conduct.

�We just want to ensure that no violation of the Model Code of Conduct goes unnoticed. Video recording of processions will not only ensure prevention of any such violation, but will also help us keep vigil on law and order situation. This will definitely of great help to us in keeping peace during the festival,� said the DC.

Dr Kaushal addressed a meeting of district administration officials and members of the central peace committee of the city at the SNTI auditorium, Bistupur on Friday.

The DC said keeping peace and ensuring compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission as regards the Model Code of Conduct were equally important during the festival. A video surveillance team and viewing team have been set up for this purpose, he said.

�We will take necessary action to fulfill demands regarding water supply, cleanliness and other basic amenities as asked by various akhara committees of the city,� said the DC.

The sub divisional officer of Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan, senior SP of Jamshedpur Amol Venukant Homkar and other administration officials were present during the meeting. The SSP said anyone could contact the police on the emergency number �100� of the crime control room of the district.

The SDO said the Kapali ghat will be brought in good shape before the festival. He said ambulance and other facilities will also be provided of the day of procession in the city.

Peace committee member Rajesh Kumar Shukla demanded arrangement of vehicles, primary aid facility and water supply through tanker during the festival.
