JeM Commander Among Two Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar

Jammu (IANS): Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district today. A top commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit was among two terrorists killed during a high-stakes joint operation.

Operation Trashi-1: The Tactical Strike

The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps launched “Operation Trashi-1” following pinpoint intelligence from the J&K Police and the Intelligence Bureau.

The encounter began around 11:00 AM in the rugged, forested terrain of the region. Troops from CIF Delta, the J&K Police, and the CRPF engaged the group with tactical precision. By the end of the gunfight, the team had successfully neutralized both terrorists and recovered:

  • Two AK-47 rifles
  • Multiple rounds of ammunition
  • Various war-like stores

A Strategic Victory in the Chatroo Forests

This clash marks the second major encounter in this area this month alone. The Chatroo region has become a flashpoint, hosting over a dozen encounters in the last year.

Why this area matters:

  • Foreign Presence: Intelligence suggests a group of Pakistani terrorists is moving between Kishtwar, Doda, and Udhampur.
  • Constant Pressure: The Army’s “hot chase” strategy is forcing these groups to remain on the move, effectively preventing them from planning or executing fresh attacks.
  • Dense Cover: The thick forests provide natural hiding spots, making today’s precision strike even more significant.

“Mission-Mode” for Peace

The operation aligns with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent directive to usher in total peace in the Jammu division. During his visit on February 7, the Home Minister ordered a “mission-mode” approach to neutralize foreign terrorists operating in the hilly districts.

The Army remains resolute, stating on social media:

“Those who seek to disturb peace will find no sanctuary. The hunt continues.”

What’s Next?

Security forces are currently retrieving the bodies for final identification. Meanwhile, patrolling has intensified across the Kishtwar-Doda-Udhampur circuit to track the remaining members of the foreign terror cell.
