Jamshedpur Lok Sabha polls: Surprise inspection to ensure transparent elections

Jamshedpur: In a bid to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of elections, District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal recently conducted surprise inspections at various key election-related facilities. Accompanied by Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar,  Mittal meticulously assessed the arrangements at the postal ballot polling center located at the SDO office Dhalbhum and ITDA office.

During the inspection,  Mittal scrutinized the facilities available at the polling center and interacted with officials and staff to gather insights into the ongoing processes. Noting the crowd dynamics, he directed the implementation of measures such as segregating lines for men and women and providing guidance to voters through dedicated help desks. This move aimed to streamline the voting process and enhance efficiency.

Additionally,  Mittal and senior officials inspected the postal ballot strong room situated at Udyog Kendra, assessing the maintenance of postal ballots post-voting. Ensuring the integrity and security of ballots is paramount in upholding the democratic process.

In a proactive approach to combat misinformation and undue influence,  Mittal also visited the Media and MCMC Cell and Material Cell. He emphasized the importance of vigilance against social media manipulation, paid news, and political advertisements. Personnel were instructed to closely monitor various channels and collaborate with the Expenditure Cell to track election-related expenses rigorously.

Furthermore,  Mittal reviewed approvals pertaining to campaign activities, advertisements, and media content for political parties and candidates contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Stressing compliance, he underscored the necessity for parties and candidates to obtain approval for their promotional materials.

In inspecting the Material Cell and Personnel Cell,  Mittal ensured that preparations were on track for the smooth execution of election duties. Officials and personnel were directed to adhere to timelines to ensure the successful conduct of elections.

 Mittal’s proactive approach highlights the commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and conducting free, fair, and transparent elections. As the electoral process progresses, continued vigilance and adherence to guidelines will be crucial in safeguarding the integrity of the democratic process.
