Jamshedpur, May 24: The city police have intensified the drive of screening e-passes after cases of its fake use using wrong addresses started emerging. The State Government has decided to issue E-pass only after mobile verification. As per the transport department new directive e-pass will be issued only after applicant’s mobile verification.

“ As per the new directives, if any person provides wrong information for availing E- pass facilities then police will take strict action. The Government has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles and people within the state to stop the chain of Covid-19 transmission and issued e-passes for people who need to travel for emergency purposes,” said an official.

However, sources said that many people have taken the issuance of E-pass on a lighter note by submitting fake or wrong information for getting e-pass.

Sources said issuance of e-pass is not a manual process, but computerized operations with no verification process of applicants. Applicants have to make an online application on portal epassjharkhand.nic.in  After submitting all the information in the epassjharkhand.nic.in portal the e-pass is automatically generated within ten to fifteen minutes.

Notably, in a recent order by the state department of home, jail and disaster management, residents of the state will have to procure e-passes to go out of their homes to buy essential commodities till May 27. The passes will be valid for three hours from the issuing time.

The morning walkers were also not spared. Several of them were rounded up from Bistupur and Kadma-Sonari Link Road . Police asked the morning walkers to board a bus which later brought them to the campus of Motilal Nehru Public School in Bistupur. All of them were later released after warning and signing of PR ( Personal Recognizance ) bond.

The Jharkhand government on Sunday imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles and people within the state to stop the chain of Covid-19 transmission and issued e-passes for people who need to travel for emergency purposes.  On the first day of the curbs which will continue till May 27, the government’s online portal that issues the e-passes crashed owing to heavy traffic.
