Jamshedpur: JNAC seizes huge gutka stock on World No Tobacco Day

Jamshedpur, May 31: On World No Tobacco Day, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) flying squad conducted a raid and seized two and a half boxes of gutka and tobacco from the godown of Jarda trader Aslam Diwali, located at Mohammedan Line, Sakchi. The officials promptly sealed the godown following the seizure.

Tax inspector ML Das, present at the scene, stated that they had received confidential information regarding the large stockpile of banned gutka and zarda in the godown. Acting on this intelligence, the raid was conducted, resulting in the seizure. Although the official list of seized items is yet to be prepared, the godown has been sealed as per protocol. The estimated value of the confiscated Gutka is approximately 20 thousand rupees. Das emphasized that the sale and consumption of gutka are prohibited in the state, and regular raids are conducted to enforce the ban. When asked about further actions, he mentioned that they would follow the instructions provided by senior officers.
