Jamshedpur: A delegation of the Janata Dal (United) met with the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Tuesday to submit a memorandum, demanding immediate payment of the three months of pending salaries of teachers at BPM Middle School in Burmamines.
Led by JDU Burmamines Block President Bablu Kumar Singh, District Vice President Durga Rao, and Arjun Mukhi, the delegation highlighted that despite funds being disbursed by the government, the teachers have not been paid since April 2026.
Red Tape Traps Government-Released Funds
Because BPM Middle School operates as a government-aided institution, the state government releases salaries directly into the bank account of the school’s Managing Committee Secretary, from where it is transferred to individual teachers’ accounts.
According to the memorandum, the government released the salary amounts for April, May, and June 2026. However, bureaucratic snags have completely blocked the teachers from accessing their earnings.
Key Revelations by JCD(U) Leaders:
- Dissolved Committee: The District Superintendent of Education (DSE) officially dissolved the school’s old Managing Committee on April 24, 2026.
- Departmental Custody: The school is currently operating directly under the state Education Department. The Area Education Officer (AEO) and Block Education Officer (BEO) have been appointed as the acting Chairman and Secretary of the management board.
- Frozen Bank Account: Despite the school being under government control, the state funds remain stuck. Bank authorities reportedly froze the old committee’s bank account, stalling all outward transactions.
“The salary is lying right there in the committee’s account, but is not being distributed. If the Education Department issues the necessary clearance to the bank, the teachers can be paid immediately. Instead, the AEO, BEO, and DSE are failing to take any concrete initiative,” a JDU representative alleged.
The three-month delay has plunged the school’s teaching staff into a severe financial crisis. JCD(U) warned that the administrative gridlock is now directly impacting the school’s daily academic environment.
