Jamshedpur Jains protest against making Shikharji Tirth a tourist spot

Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Members of Jain community took out a protest rally against the government announcement to make Shikharjee Tirth a tourist spot. They also put up a demonstration at Sakchi. The rally reached Jamshedpur Collectorate where the community leaders submitted a memorandum addressed to Jharkhand Chief Minister to the Deputy Commissioner and demanded that Shikharji Tirth not be declared as a tourist spot. They said if the Jain pilgrimage is given the status of a tourist spot, it will become a hangout zone for people to engage in indecent and objectionable activities and pollute the place.
