Jamshedpur: Increased bus services to Prayagraj amid Maha Kumbh rush

Jamshedpur, Feb 15: In response to the growing number of pilgrims traveling to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, bus owners have significantly increased services from Jamshedpur. Initially, only five buses were operating on the Prayagraj route, but now, approximately 20 buses are running with tickets priced at around Rs 1,800. Despite the increased fleet, all buses are fully booked.

Neeraj Singh, a bus owner, stated, “The demand for buses is very high, but traffic jams are creating issues for smooth travel.” The 650 km journey to Prayagraj is lengthy and luxury buses are the only ones operating on this route. Due to congestion and diversions, especially near Mohinia, buses traveling to other areas like Siwan, Patna and Bihar Sharif have been rerouted, leading to inconvenience for commuters on these routes.

While the bus operators are making efforts to accommodate the large number of passengers, there are still challenges with congestion and full bookings. Despite this, the buses are continuing their services to cater to the surge of passengers heading to the Sangam for the holy dip.
