The complex challenge of managing food waste from hotels, restaurants, resorts, and other commercial hospitality centers is one that the industry has been grappling with. Ideally, there should be a closed loop between waste creation and recycling, with hotels managing their own waste and reducing the burden on municipal corporations.
The partnership between JHRA and Tata Steel UISL aligns with the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat initiative, emphasizing the hospitality industry’s role in converting waste into resources. By pioneering sustainable waste management practices, the industry could contribute significantly to India’s efforts to reduce its $180 billion fossil fuel imports.
