Jamshedpur hosts National convention on efforts to curb suicide

Jamshedpur: A national convention on �Working together to prevent suicide� was organized today by Jeevan on behalf of Befrienders India. The conference was inaugurated by distinguished guest Ruchi Ravindran.

The national was attended by 16 centres of Befrienders India that included New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi and Ahmedabad. Forty representatives from these centres and 30 from the city participated in the convention.
In her address, Ruchi Ravindran lauded the efforts of Jeevan to prevent suicides in the city.


The keynote address was given by Dr Sushanto Padhi of AIIMS Bhubaneshwar. He dwelt in detail on the topic, �Impact of social media on mental health.�
Motilal Nehru Public School principal Ashu Tiwary informed of the measures taken to ensure a stress-free environment in the school.

Befrienders India is a recognized body of Befrienders Worldwide is the only organization committed to the eradication of suicide throughout the country through its 16 centres. These centres provide free services and maintain absolute secrecy while counseling cases of stress and depression.

Director DR JR Jain, Founder Director Dr Mahavir Ram, Deputy Director M Durga Rao and Gurpreet Bhatia were present at the convention along with Befrienders India President Shri Rajesh, secretary Nagesh, treasurer Shriranjani along with active Jeevan members, school principals and other city dignitaries.
