Jamshedpur: Amid tight security and strict protocol, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday created a memorable moment that won the hearts of local residents. While returning from the convocation ceremony at NIT Jamshedpur, the President asked her convoy to stop at Akashvani Chowk after noticing children standing by the roadside.
Presidential convoys usually do not stop due to security reasons, but known for her simplicity and warmth, President Murmu could not ignore the enthusiasm of the children waving at her. As soon as the convoy halted, security personnel became alert, but the President stepped out of her vehicle and walked straight towards the children and women gathered there.
As she approached the crowd, the entire area echoed with slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” The President spent around 15 minutes greeting the people present. She affectionately interacted with young children, encouraging them by waving and blessing them. She also enquired about the well-being of the women standing there.
President Murmu extended her best wishes to the citizens for the upcoming New Year 2026. People present at Akashvani Chowk were pleasantly surprised and delighted by the unexpected interaction. Local residents said, “We never imagined that the President of India would come among us with such simplicity. This is the most memorable moment of our lives.”
After about 15 minutes of this interaction, the President resumed her journey towards the airport with her convoy. During this time, security officials had to make considerable efforts to manage the situation, but the joy of meeting the people was clearly visible on the President’s face.
