Jamshedpur, Dec 29: President of India Droupadi Murmu was accorded a warm and ceremonial welcome at Dishom Jaher in Karandih, under the Potka Assembly constituency, during the 22nd Santali ‘Parsi Maha’ celebration and the centenary function marking 100 years of the Ol Chiki script.
The event marked a historic moment for the Santali-speaking community and was dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Santali language, literature, and culture.
On the occasion, Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar welcomed the President by presenting her with a bouquet.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren were also present at the function and joined in welcoming the President.
The grand gathering reflected the rich cultural heritage of the Santhal community and highlighted the importance of linguistic identity and cultural consciousness.
Addressing the occasion, MLA Sanjib Sardar said that the Santali language and the Ol Chiki script are priceless treasures of tribal cultural heritage.
He noted that such events not only help in preserving language and culture but also inspire the younger generation to stay connected with their roots.
Congratulating the organisers and the community for the successful conduct, he described the festival as a symbol of tribal identity, unity, and cultural pride.
